Anjuman-e-Burhani, Seattle conducts
seminar on How To Win Trust
With
duas of Aqa Maula (tus) and raza of Aamil Saheb, Janab
Moiz bhaisaheb Vajihuddin, Anjuman-e-Burhani Seattle,
during Taabudaat 1429H, did neeyat of starting a year
round educational series. The intent is for
professional speakers to come to our markaz and
educate us on various topics that are beneficial to us
in our personal, family and business lives. The first
of these educational series entitled How To Win Trust
was held on the 4th of June 2008.
Mr. Charles Green, author of two books, and Chairman
and CEO of his company Trustedadvisor.com was invited
to speak. A two hour educational program + workshop
was conducted where mumineen were told about his
philosophy of winning trust. Mr. Charles Green,
himself an MBA from the Harvard Business School gave
examples from his life as a Consultant and from his
own personal experiences in the United States.
50 mumineen of all age groups attended this seminar
which was followed by dinner. In traditional Dawoodi
Bohra style, Mr. Charles Green sat on the ground and
ate with his hands and followed all our rasams.
Anjuman-e-Burhani, in appreciation of Mr. Green's
efforts felicitated him, in our customary fashion of
presenting him with a shawl, books on the life history
of Aqa Maula Tus and history of Dawat e Hadiya in the
US, and a gift article, by which to remember us by.
After the event Moiz bs briefly addressed the mumineen
and said, "Many of the things Charles mentioned and
learnt, as he mentioned, the hard way, were examples
of how Moula (tus) has taught us to live life. The
good thing for us was that it also increased the level
of mohabaat and trustworthiness that we have for Moula
(tus) and deepened the affection. Khuda tala Moula (tus)
ne qiyamat lag baqi raakhe."
The next day, Mr. Charles Green sent this email to
Anjuman-e-Burhani, "I was very touched by the chance
to speak with you and your group the other night. The
thought that my ideas resonate with something so deep
and relevant and revered as your group's religious
beliefs is very humbling and very gratifying. I felt
honored to be included with all of you during your
prayers and meal. I thank you very much for the
honor. And thank you for the pictures! I am very glad
to have them; they are indeed a very nice
remembrance."

Taabbodaat 1429 H, Seattle – A historic milestone
achieved by the mumineen in the North West (Vancouver,
Seattle and Portland)
In a
historic event, the two North West Jamaats of Anjuman
e Vajihi, Vancouver and Anjuman e Burhani, Seattle,
came together to celebrate the Milad Mubarak of Aqa
Maula, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (tus). Anjuman e
Burhani, Seattle comprising of mumineen from the
states of Washington (Seattle) and Oregon (Portland),
hosted the very first Burhani Shield games in the city
of Seattle.
The two
day celebration (April 19 and 20) started off with a
combined 7th Darees (as part of the Taabudaat amal),
Muzakerat (on Lisan ud Dawat) followed by Zohr/Asr
Namaz and Salawat Jaman. The afternoon session
involved a General Knowledge Quiz Competition before
mumineen bhaiyo changed into sporting clothes for a 15
overs a side game of Cricket, played under lights on
astro turf. As the evening wore on, it first rained,
then we had sunshine and it then hailed and finally
snowed. It was another aspect of this Taabudaat that
was unique – how many mumineen, all over the world,
can claim to have played cricket in the snow? But
mumineen's josh knew no bounds, as despite these
weather conditions, the game of cricket did not stop
for even a moment.
The next
day's venue was an indoor/outdoor kind of venue.
While the men engaged in a game of Volleyball outside,
the mumenaat behno and children had indoor games. The
morning session culminated in Zohr/Asr namaz and Jaman,
after which there were indoor games for mumineen
bhaiyo and lucky draws for all followed by prize
distribution.
All of
these programs were arranged with the neeyat of tulul
umr of our beloved Aqa Maula (TUS) and with the
continuous dua that Allah Ta'ala grant our beloved Aqa
Maula a long and healthy life ta roze qayamat.
We
sincerely thank Moezbhaisaheb Wajihuddin, Amilsaheb of
Seattle and M. Qaidjoherbhai Diwan, Aamilsaheb of
Vancouver for their sadarat, perseverance and guidance
throughout the planning and execution of this event.
Anjuman e Burhani would also sincerely like to thank
the following committees for their hard work in making
this happen.

Burhani

In
addition to this thanks to all the other contributors
who contributed their time and money with sponsorships
or logistics. A final thanks to Shamoil bhai
Mohammedally who coordinated this event on behalf of
Anjuman e Vajihi, Vancouver. We look forward to
renewing our sporting rivalry, friendships and
contacts with our neighbours from across the border
next year.
Moezbhaisaheb, this year encouraged mumineen to
present a few of the Muzakerat and three people
accepted this khidmat and presented their Tassavuraat.
