Madrassa Saifiyah Burhaniyah, Mumbai,
Showcased talent in a uniquely different sphere
Madrassa Saifiyah Burhaniyah, Mumbai, Showcased
talent in a uniquely different sphere – for a change
it was not History, Geography or Science jumbled with
mathematical rules !!! It was an event par excellence,
on a subject so different, so unique, and so very
close to Aqa Maula Tus. It was on Health and
Nutrition. Or Fat to Fit as was evident on slim walls
!!
Food for thought was displayed without bonded grease
with unique ease. It had style, substance and flavor.
A showcase as a viewer would call it, canvassed all
aspects required for healthy living. The classrooms
were converted to display halls and mini auditoriums
where some of the finest skits were performed selling
rich mineralized messages. You could smell the
benefits of Olives in some tidy corners.
What was clearly visible was not just pain sticking
farming but a rich display of talent. The students had
done considerable research to find and display matter
that appealed to our grey matter. Care was taken to
bring out flavor of our traditions and Halal food was
the essence. It befitted some of them to be called
Doctors in the making.
The principal Fatema ben Dohadwala was very candid
when she gave full credit to the tiny tots who had
spent sleepless nights to put act and action together.
The underlying epitome to this success was seen in her
modesty in passing credit to her gracious team of
teachers and janabs.
For those who spent time at MSB on Wed, Aug 27, 2008,
here are the refreshments to digest and see the
photographs and for the rest some glimpses of a
successful event manned by future torch bearers of
healthy and Nutritious Mawaids.

On the Indian
Ocean this area has excellent sailing facilities. It’s a nice fairly uncrowded
coastal town (pop.188 000) that we found relaxing because there’s nothing to do
but enjoy the beach. If you’re in need of rest plan to stay three days. 115
mi/185 km north of Dar es Salaam.
From Dar-es-Salaam
travelers wishing to take a trip to Mombasa, Kenya - can make a stop-over in
Tanga for serenity and peace. Tanga has old-time history involved and life is
laid-back (relaxed). Shop around Ngamiani Street, or the Main Streets (Market
Street or Independence Street). TANGA
Tanga is the
most important Tanzanian port after Dar and lies just south of the Kenyan
border. Major exports from the port of Tanga include sisal, coffee, tea, and
cotton. Tanga is also an important railroad terminus, connecting much of the
northern Tanzanian interior with the sea. Via the Tanzania Railways
Corporation's Link Line and Central Line, Tanga is linked to the African Great
Lakes region and the Tanzanian economic capital of Dar es Salaam. The town was
first ruled by Arabs, then the Germans under Carl Peters who established the
settlement in 1888. The Germans developed the town as entry port for the
settlers. The harbor and surrounding is the centre of life in Tanga, with its
hotels and several markets in several neighborhoods. Old buildings constructed
at the period of German rule include the Clock Tower, Court House, St Anthony
Cathedral, the Tanga Library, and the Railway Station. While places to see
around Tanga are the Tongoni Ruins, Amboni Caves, the Galanos Hot Springs,
Raskazoni beach and the daily markets in the centre of town. Tongoni is a small
fishing village 17km south of Tanga. It is famous for the 15th century ruins of
wells, a mosque and the largest concentration of historical tombs on the East
African Coast. It is claimed that Tongoni was established by the Shirazi (people
of Persian origin), who established many Islamic settlements in Eastern Africa
such as Kilwa and Mafia. The ruins at Tongoni are under the Antiquities
department, have been properly excavated and are open to the public. The Amboni
caves are the most extensive natural limestone caves in East Africa formed
during the Jurassic Period around 150 million years ago and lie mostly
underground. There are 10 caves with fascinating chambers although only one is
used for guided tours. The caves are home to thousands of bats and their exit at
sunset each evening is a popular event. The caves have religious significance to
the local people and are believed to house various spirits as indicated by a
ceremonial cavern which is filled with offerings such as obsidian blades and
pottery. The Galanos Hot Springs, named after Christopher Galanos, a sisal
plantation owner, are located approximately 8 km from Tanga town. The springs
are hot and sulphurous and a bath in the springs is believed to relieve
arthritis and skin ailments. On Market Street, Don't forget to visit Food Palace
for best chicken & barbeque dishes. Scrumptious Breakfast dishes and exotic
juices make a wonderful starting point. Fast Food, don’t forget to visit
Gtayebjee for best halal sea food, barbeque chicken, steak etc but make sure u
ring them first and give Ur orders if u are in hurry or else u can wait approx
1hr for the food 2be served. Temperatures in Tanga range from 19.8 to 33.35
(Celsius). Rainfall in Tanga varies from 96.0 to 648.0 (mm/month).
