By
the wasila of Maulatona Fatema tuz Zahra (a.s), to promptly have our
wishes fulfilled, our elders introduced this custom.
When a marriage is wished for or intended, or there are tiding of a
new child or to bring about the fulfillment of any wishes – it is a
custom to do the Mithi Shitabi Thal.
In the case of a pregnancy, the shitabi is to be
done in the 7th or 9th month. 9 – 11 – or 14 women are to be
invited; the no. is not fixed. There is no necessity to cook any
particular food; but Gol – Roti (Jaggery and Chapati) is served in
honour of the guests.
Mehndi and Kajal are to be kept in the thal. Besides this nothing
improper should be done.
Before serving the food it is apt to remember Allah and the
Awliyaullah (a.s) as per the traditions, in the reverence of Maulatena
Fatema (a.s) Qasidas and nazams should be prayed in her praise.
The following should be recited: -
-
Selected
couplets from the qasida mubarakah – Maulatona
Fatema tuz Zahra…
Selected verses from the marasiyah - Ya
Sayeda Shoha dai
-
As
much as possible from the nazams – Parho
Fatema na upper salawat and Fatema chee Mohammed na pyari…
-
It
is appropriate to pray the Noah – Fatema
Appke dil ko hai dhukhaya kisne….
-
And
in the end to conclude with a madhe of the Dai iz Zaman (tus)
In
appreciation of the guests who have gathered to pray salawat, gifts
should be given as per ones means. Paan, Mehndi and Attar should be
given.
Widows, childless and menstruating women may also be included in the
thals. None should carry wrong impressions that it is improper and
inauspicious to include such women. |
